Researchers at the University of Wolverhampton, in collaboration with South Staffordshire Water, are leading a pioneering project called ‘Space Eye’, which aims to revolutionise water leak detection across the UK. by using advanced satellite technology, the project will enable faster, more accurate and cost-effective monitoring.
Professor Mohammad Patwary and Dr Rahul Mourya, from the University’s Digital Innovations and Solution Centre (DISC) based at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park, have secured £1.3 million from Ofwat’s Innovation Fund. The funding will support the development, launch, and operation of six Low Earth Orbit (LEO) micro satellites designed to detect water leaks and unaccounted-for water with exceptional efficiency and precision.
