Chief medical officers’ have announced that the coronavirus alert level be raised from 3 to 4., meaning the transmission of the virus is “high or rising exponentially”, can we please remind all tenants that the wearing of face coverings in communal areas and circulation spaces is now mandatory across the science park.
The Government has provided new guidance for the University sector and use of its various types of buildings / facilities. As a result of this, with effect from Monday 21st September 2020, the wearing of face coverings in all circulation spaces and communal areas of the Science Park became mandatory in order to help prevent the transmission of Covid-19. This will also apply to outside areas where it is not possible to maintain 2m social distancing.
Individuals are responsible for providing their own face coverings as you would in supermarkets etc. This applies to circulation spaces such as reception, corridors and stairwells as well as communal areas such as kitchens, toilets, seating areas, café queuing, etc. Tenants are responsible for the social distancing measures for their staff within their own offices, workshops or laboratories.
Detailed information on the use of face coverings can be found on the Government website at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own. This Government guidance also identifies the circumstances where people may not be able to wear face coverings. If this applies to you or a staff member it would be helpful if you could wear one of the recognised forms of identification (badge, lanyard, additional ID card) so that Science Park staff or fellow tenants do not repeatedly query the none use of a face covering.
